Free to Be, Inc. helps residents in Anoka County Minnesota only (age 21 or older) who are Welfare to Work,
Immigrants, Unemployed, Under employed, Disabled, or Seniors. For the Free2B Car Repair program, volunteer
mechanics repair vehicles for those who cannot afford the repairs and who qualify for the service and Free2B
pays up to $300 of parts.
- Recipients must be residents of Anoka County Minnesota for at least 6 months and qualify for the repairs based
on eligibility requirements. Clients must fill out an application and supply the required documentation.
For more information, call 763.717.7755 or contact CarCare@Free2B.Info.
- Eligible individuals receive an analysis on their vehicle prior to Car Care Saturday to determine the amount
of repairs needed. This is usually a Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm by appointment only.
- Auto repair shops provide the use of their facility and volunteer mechanics complete the analysis. These car repairs
are made every first Saturday of every month at Victory Auto Service & Glass on Osborne Road in Fridley, MN; and every
third Saturday of every month at Victory Auto Service & Glass in Ham Lake, MN. These companies have donated their facilities
for the repairs. Date is subject to change.
- Free2B! allows up to $300 per client for repairs. This is only for parts since the labor is all volunteers. All Car
Care Saturday mechanics and helpers are volunteers. On Car Care Saturday all the repairs are completed. Parts are provided
at a discounted rate by Cotten's NAPA Auto Parts and John's Auto Parts.
- While the client's cars are being repaired Free2B! requires the individuals to take budgeting and vehicle maintenance
classes.
